A good example of Dudgeon's
Sphygmograph in in good working condition, with its original case. This is
the same instrument pictured on page 11 of Tiemann. The instrument itself
is unmarked save for the force markings (in Troy oz) on the adjustment
wheel. The winder, clockwork mechanism, force adjustment, etc. all work
properly. The case is leather covered and lined in purple satin and
velvet. It is marked "MEDICAL SUPPLY ASSN" (an Edinburgh firm
est. 1887) inside the lid. The instrument
itself is in good condition noting light scratches and tarnishing here and
there, and a strap that is just slightly tatty. The case is sound with
good hinge but lacking the pushbutton latch release on the front. (It
nevertheless opens and closes easily, but does not lock.) The interior is
bright and clean, and the exterior shows light scuffing to the top. ca
1900.
